At the mall

Since the summer heat made running about outside a bit uncomfort-able, we made several trips to what Bino dubbed the "baby park" at the mall, where he had lots of F-U-N, as you can see. Most times these trips also involved c-o-o-k-i-e-s with Tata.

In addition to getting a lot of exercise and practicing his social skills with other kids, Bino showed off his reading skills (with the block letters--at this point, he can recognize and name both capitals and lower-case of just about every letter!) and learned about colors. (He used to call almost every color "purple," but here he is pointing and naming them using the M&Ms on his cookie. He can now recognize and name blue, orange, red, white, black, green, and yellow.)

Park City mud puddle

Here is Bino experiencing some of the most fun he's had during the time we've been in Park City. Pedro was a bit horrified by the mess he was making, but I figured once he'd already run through the puddle the first time, we might as well let him have his fun.   He must have played this way for 20 minutes at least.   What you don't see in this video is him actually sitting down in the water and kicking his feet, too.  Ruby might remember another romp through puddles during a rainstorm back, oh, 14 years ago now.  We were old enough to know better, but it was sure a lot of fun.

We'll have to wait a while to post the photos of our time in Park City (including Bino's first visit with Baby Doug, which he is still talking about!), but we'll have them up eventually.

¡Arriba! ¡Abajo!

Finally getting a moment to get caught up on the blog. It´s about time. We had a wonderful Christmas in Guatemala and then again in Lexington. Bino thrived on all the attention. Here we are with Pedro´s family on Christmas day. He was absolutely ecstatic playing this game he invented with the ten people or so in the room. This video was taken near the end of it all. He was getting a little tired by this point, and in his tiredness also very sweet on his aunt Ana. Before we left Guatemala, he was saying her name. Arriba/Abajo is still a favorite game. Last week he was trying to play it with strangers in a restaurant.
